That's old. "I want a new one. That's so common you know." You can always hear this kind of happenings in movies. "Common? You're life is in danger!" I'm used to this, I already know what to do. "Danger? Where?" I don't see any danger. Yes, she looks badass who can and will kick someone's ass but now that I'm facing her, she doesn't look like a danger to me. "Ha! Where?! Here! In front of you!" Why is she yelling at me?

I could tell he was serious by the look in his eye, and not once did he blink. "Not all women are afraid of danger," I replied, punching the bag with greater force. He clutched the bag and leaned his face against it. "You should be afraid of danger." I copied his movements, placing my face against the bag across from him. "Are you afraid of danger?" I asked, quietly. Our lips were so close that I could feel the moisture from his. Our eyes met, and I could see the burning passion in them. "I am the danger,” he replied cooly.

A smile curved my lips—the kind that never reached my eyes, the kind that had been the last thing countless targets saw before the light left their eyes. “Dangerous?” I let out a low, dark laugh. “Oh, Alarion. By the time I’m done, Edgar Voss is going to wish danger was all he had to worry about. Because compared to what I’m about to do to him?” I leaned in close, my voice dropping to a lethal whisper. “Compared to me, he’s a fucking amateur.”

"It's really not a bad idea, you know." "Of, course. It isn't." I say with a blank expression. "You are just looking dull. You need to go out and have fun. Drink and party all night." "I don't want to, Clara." "Why is that." "I can't. Those men are out there, looking for me. I need to be safe." "You are safe. It's been a week now. I bet they should have given up. You are lucky and strong so you shouldn't be afraid of them."

He disappeared under the swell, and when he surfaced—soaked, spluttering, and wild-eyed— I gasped—then burst into laughter, doubling over as joy bubbled out of me unchecked. “Oh my God—” I wheezed, “—your face—” His eyes—dark and dangerous—locked on mine. “Oh, you think that’s funny?” I tried—and failed—to smother my giggles. “Hilarious, actually.” Reid’s voice dropped, rough with warning. “You shouldn’t have laughed.” “Oh yeah?” I taunted, backing up slowly through the surf. “What are you gonna—”

“That’s a dangerous compliment, coming from someone who looks like they could start a riot with their eyeliner.” There was a warmth in the corner of my chest that felt like contraband. Humor is dangerous because it makes you like people. Liking is a slippery slope in my profession. “You been following me?” I asked, eventually. Direct questions cut through the fog. He shrugged like it wasn’t a confession. “Maybe. Maybe I was following the music. Maybe I was following the idiot who thought a diner was an acceptable place to sit in a storm and not get chatted up by strangers.”

When we reached the cliff, he looked at me. "You are actually smart. But you love danger too much." I smiled lightly. "Should I take that as a compliment?" He blew smoke into my face. "And you are strange too." "Why do you think I am strange?" His face stayed cold, giving nothing away. "A moment ago you were hysterical. Not even ten minutes later you started smiling." I raised an eyebrow. "You do not know what I live through. The people who suffer the most are the ones who smile the most."

They had a look of fear on their faces and looked at me with wide eyes. But D laughed and everybody followed him "What wild beast are you talking about? You don't need to worry about them even if they are present. You should know that they will not harm the same kind" He said. "But we are-" I start to say but the look of entertainment on his face told me he was referring to me when he said the same kind.

Pointing at my face, I asked him if, while eating, I had something on my face. “I’ve never been able to make someone laugh. Everyone was just scared of me. I'm happy that I could make you happy.” He said seriously. I swallowed the mass of emotions raised in my throat. “Yeah, everyone is afraid of you. But I don't find anything to be afraid of. But you don't seem as dangerous as people are making out about you.” He smiled at my words.

Still smiling that condescending smile. But his words cut off when our eyes met. When he saw whatever was in my expression. Fear flickered across his face. Real fear. The kind that came from finally understanding the danger he was in. “I’m going to kill you.”
