I'll Never Love You Again
"Grayson, I bought a new nightgown, black lace. Will you help me see if it fits?"
I glanced at her in surprise. This was unlike her—an outright gesture of reconciliation. Normally, she'd keep her distance, letting me beg and plead before reluctantly forgiving me.
Pretending not to catch her meaning, I replied, "No need. If you like it, that's enough. You should head to your room and get some rest."
Katherine's face darkened in disbelief, and she stormed out, slamming the door behind her.
I got out of bed to lock the door, then went back to sleep, undisturbed through the night.
