She cursed herself silently, questioning why she had to relapse in front of Langit like this—it felt like exposing a secret she had worked so hard to hide from him. The pressure that slipped into her heart had thrown her mind into chaos, triggering the relapse. Fortunately, it hadn’t gotten too severe, and she was able to take her medicine in time. “I have to go home.” Bintang tried to sit up despite her weakened body. “What medicine are you taking?” Langit asked, making her movement pause halfway. “Just fever medicine,” Bintang replied, momentarily still before finally sitting up. She reached for her blazer and put it back on.

Was it all a trap? Did I fall into their trap? Who was it? For some reason, my eyes shut close of their own accord and sent me into another orbit of darkness I was getting really used to. I lost consciousness.

"We'll get out of here, I promise." But I couldn't shake off the feeling of panic. I was trapped, with no way out. And I was stuck with the memories of my father's rejection, memories that I thought I had long buried. I felt like I was going to lose my mind, the walls closing in on me. I was trapped, and I didn't know how to escape. Ryan tried to calm me down, but I could feel myself slipping away. I was back in my nightmares, back in the dark, confined spaces that I hated so much. I was trapped, and I didn't know how to get out.

"Fine, I'll go. I want to see what tricks she's up to!" Yoel stormed off, heading back to the basement. My soul floated behind him, following his steps. Back in that dark, damp room, I shivered. Even as a soul, the fear of being imprisoned was still deeply ingrained in my mind.

“Immy. Immy.” I covered my face with my hands and shrieked. “No, I am not on my freakin’ period. I am frustrated. Okay? I’m goddamn frustrated. I get what you all are doing, and I appreciate it, but, hell.” I ran my fingers through my hair. “I feel trapped.” Aiden reached for me, and I stepped to the side.

Can't even know what I'm facing. And the people who could help are the ones trying to control me. I'm trapped. Between worlds. Between identities. Between impossible choices. And I don't see a way out.

“I don’t know if she’s already unconscious or worse.” I looked at Vincent through the rearview mirror. “Check the area first.” She made a frustrated, almost frantic sound. “There’s no need for that. It’s just my mother—she's sick—she's not a threat—" “I don’t believe you,” I cut in. “This could be a trap. It’s protocol.” Her mouth tightened. For a second the defiance flared again, sharp and reckless. “If you didn’t live such a dirty lifestyle,” she snapped, “you wouldn’t have to constantly watch your back.”

"I know. You're here now." "I was trapped," she cries. Her fingers tighten around mine, and her entire body jerks when another wave of panic hits her. "I was trapped inside Corbin's house. He trapped me in here. He locked me up. He trapped me in here. He trapped me. He trapped me—I had to get out!" "I know, Caidy. I know." I move closer, but I don't force her into my arms. "You got out. You're not there anymore. You're here. You're with me."

I asked, interlacing my fingers that were placed on the bar table. “Yes… of course.” She readjusted her form, placing her hands under her chin. I can tell by the way she looks at me that she's ready to pay keen attention to whatever comes out of my mouth. “Well,” I blew a sigh as I squeezed the bridge of his nose, “Do you ever feel trapped? like having to be caught up in the decision you made of your own will? And it feels like you want to vent and terminate the one who'd set that trap and simultaneously find your way out of the trap.”
