I Need A Hero Novels & Stories

It is great that I haven't lost my senses completely or I might have been screwed by now. Love indeed turns a person blind and I was too blind to even hurt him. I feel rotten for not pressing the trigger. I should have atleast shot his arm but I couldn't do it. Turning around and leaving was something that doesn't match my personality. I like to face things and feeling this weak made me hate myself. I scratched my huge nails on my naked arm scratching them.

“You’re not just strong. You’re smart. You see the cracks in this place just like I do. And maybe… maybe you’re the only one who can save it.” I stared at him, heart thudding. “I don’t want to be a hero,” I whispered. “You don’t have to be,”

Nicholas said still staring at me. I wrinkled my face at him. "Really?" "What?" "That's such a cheesy line and I've read it in too many romance novels to know what it means." | said and that seemed to have Nicholas interest because he sat up from the bed. "Oh yeah, what does it mean?” Nicholas asked with a smirk. I rolled my eyes at his piqued interest. "The hero says something like that to the heroine and she momentarily forgets herself. Before you know it, they are making sex memories."

But, this wasn't the subject right now. “Do you know what is the difference between a naive fool and a hero of justice?" She clenched her fist, a fierce expression on her face. "It's their strength. The first requirement of being a hero isn’t being right. It’s being strong. That’s why the hero always wins.”

the system answered. As a passerby brushed past Keagan, their hurried footsteps unapologetically jostling him, he stood unwavering. The distraction failed to divert his gaze from the screen, his admiration undimmed as the no.12 hero triumphed over their formidable adversary. The grand hall erupted in a crescendo of cheers, echoing the aspirations deep within Keagan's heart. At that moment, a profound yearning swelled within him, the yearning to someday stand among those esteemed heroes. He nurtured an unspoken desire to partake in battles of such magnitude, to emerge victorious.

I sigh at him, just so done. “You don’t want some smoochy soppy asshole who buys you flowers and chocolates. You want someone who can handle shit, kill your monsters and make sure you’re always safe. A crazy mob boss with a steel dragon who would burn down the world for you. One who can take your sassy mouth and give as good as he gets.” A reference to my childish fantasy of a hero riding a fire breathing beast. He really did read every word.

“It’s okay. What do you need?” I took a shaking breath, my whole future hanging on these next words. “I want to be strong. I want to be a warrior. I want to be able to protect myself, to fight back against anyone who tries to hurt me. I want to prove that I’m not weak, that I’m not nothing.” My voice broke on the last word, tears wanting to spill over. “Please. I need this. I need to know I can be more than what they said I was.”

She had a way of understanding the unspoken and was one of the few people who had ever managed to draw Hero out of his shell. “Hey, Hero!” she called out, waving him over. “You look like you could use a break.” Hero managed a small smile, joining her as they walked around the courtyard. “I was working on neural networks. It’s interesting, but… there’s so much I still don’t know.” Polaris nodded, listening intently. “I get it. But sometimes, you’re so far ahead of everyone else, Hero, it’s like you’re competing against yourself. Take it easy every now and then.”

I whisper. And then I realize… if I can protect someone the way she’s always protected me — then maybe I’ve got a little of that hero in me too. But if anyone else tries to say otherwise, they'd better be ready to bleed for it.
