In order to avoid raising any suspicion, I pretended to struggle against the wires. I felt the corners of her lips move up in triumph, giving me the only clue I needed to believe that my plan was working. She leaned down as she reached me, placing the glass closer to my mouth.

I was saying goodbye to the people I loved, the people who had helped me. Sigurd handed me a small vial of liquid. "This is a potion that will make it look like you're dead," he explained. And with superhuman speed, I was in the kitchen, retrieving a metal spoon. I was basically mocking them. I knew he wasn't going to survive. Not even the strongest wolf could survive such a potion. It was a potion made with sweat, with hate, with revenge. It was a potion that was meant to kill and destroy. There was no going back now, it was going to achieve the purpose for which it was created.
