Police say it might be the result of a botched robbery…” The voice from the television kept going, but those were the only words echoing in my head. That was my husband, Bryan Liam. The man I had been married to for four years. The same man I had escorted to the airport. He was dead. The glass I was holding slipped from my hand and shattered on the floor. Everything blurred. I saw flashes of my nanny rushing to grab my son, his piercing cries echoing in my ears, but it was all distant—like my world had paused.

He died, still married to his work. She took a long pause and stared at me. “Now, the wife learns of her husband’s death, so she decides to come back, to claim what is rightfully hers. What she suffered negligence and lack of love for.” She added, observing me. “You get where I’m heading to now, right?” She asked. “What has that got to do with me? If you wanted part of your ex-husband’s wealth you could have just gone to the bank” I stated, dryly.
