It was a cool, windless night, perfect for stargazing.
Destiny lay with her head on my arm, marveling at the beauty of the night and I only had eyes for her.
“Look, James, a shooting star!” she called out, pointing and sure enough there it was, shooting across the galaxy.
“Make a wish, Sugar.” Not that I believed in wishes. If I did, I would wish to keep her forever. “What did you wish for?” I asked seconds later.
“I’m not going to tell you, otherwise it won’t come true.” She sat up, scratching a spot on her arm. “James, there are mosquitoes here.” She scratched a spot on her ankle. “Oh, heck!”
