~Two Years Later~ ~Javed’s Point of View~ I stare off into the distance, running my hand over my face. I’d put this off too long and now, there was no more waiting. One hundred and one years, I’d lost. Though it was supposed to be two hundred. The ones who confined me to the tombs won’t be happy but it's been two years since I rose again and there’s been no sign of them. All the centuries of wondering, waiting for the point to all this, desperate for some sign that I should keep going. I got it, loud and crystal fucking clear.

Nathan's voice grew calmer. Mila wiped her tears. She recalled his vow to wait five years for her and wondered if he would still keep it. "Nate, I—" Mila began, then halted. Suddenly, she realized the selfishness of asking him to wait another five years. The thought of the situation she might put Nathan in if she couldn't return after five years weighed heavily on her. It would undoubtedly shatter his heart. Five years later, he'd be in his 30s and possibly with children old enough for kindergarten.

I lean on the bench and throw my head back. I don't think I can make it. Five years is torture, talk more living an eternity, wondering what could have been.

I will never adapt to that fucking reality, regardless of how much time goes by. Since she left. I was dragging every day, wishing that she would come back. Fifteen years have passed, and I was still waiting. And I’ll be waiting because, with each new day, there’s new hope. And as my sweet Ariadne used to say, “Hope dies last!”.
