Congratulations, Aria Evans, you’ve already made history. I opened my bag grabbing the weird tablet the school issued to us. I tap the screen, and a notification blinks across it. I open it and just like I had feared, it is another detention for tardiness. I lift my eyes and look over at Professor Claude who stare at me with a grin slashed across his face. I quickly look down, he can give me a hundred detentions for all I care. If they keep me away from whatever it is Omegas were forced to do, then detention just became my new favorite class.

Finding a place was when I saw everyone in detention. Devon Burke, Belle's boyfriend was there, sitting in the front of the class with his two friends, Adam and Jace. Those three were constantly getting into trouble. I was surprised they weren't kicked off the football team after all the trouble they went through.

I had sighed my relief after having survived the first detention only to head out to the almost empty parking lot to find a detention slip attached to the windshield wiper on the Beetle and the tire clamped. Teeth grounded on each other I crushed the stupid detention slip in my fist before stomping back to the school. Over a dozen students were also serving detention. An idiot thought it was cool to make paper planes and send them flying across the room, which only added to my annoyance having had to serve double detention. I quickly changed the subject before he could process anything I just said, "So, how did you make it all day without the cops picking you up? I mean you reek of booze." His friends all chuckled. "Carter here is a big boy. He knows how to convince the big lady here to just keep him in detention for the day," his friend, Zach, said.

I just walked towards Ty and slumped down on the chair next to him. "Carrie...Is everything alright?" Ty asked me. So he already understood there was something wrong with me. He always does. I don't know whether I should tell him about this or not. He won't be very happy about this. He is just gonna scold me. But still, I need to tell him. "I got one-week detention starting from today," I blurted out. "You got what ?" Ty asked in bewilderment, his mouth wide open. "DETENTION! Are you deaf?" I scoffed gaining attention from a few people sitting around. The boy who was sitting behind me tapped on my shoulder.

The recording caught a struggle, then a handbag slamming into a car door. "That was then. This is now. Tyler Carlton, don't push your luck. I never told you to steal Lindsay's mom's life savings." Her voice went cold. "Lindsay's a good woman. Go beg her to forgive you. Don't drag me down with you. Security! Get this psycho out of here!" The recording cut off. I sat in the hotel armchair, listening to the final screech of tires through my earbuds. A silent laugh slipped out.

"That is in the unsafe hall. Did you think I wouldn't find out —?" Umar suddenly shut out of his seat, his thin finger pointed at Paris with his veins all out on his forehead while saliva flew out his mouth as he snapped, "Detention!" Paris' eyes widened. Detention?! Father would kill him! "What?! I didn't do anything!" Umar seemed to realize at that same moment that the boy was right because he didn't exactly do anything so he settled back on his seat and said it an incredibly calm voice, "I do not know what's come over you, boy, but if you don't leave this office, I'd make it a week."

CAMILLE’S POV The TV screen is on in front of me. I watch the news intently. I sit on the edge of the bed, still as death. The curtains are drawn, suffocating the daylight. My thumb runs slowly along the edge of the remote, pausing on a still image: Alexander, in handcuffs, being shoved into the back of a police cruiser. His face is twisted in confusion and anger.
