I mumble, more to myself than to him, my gaze darting wildly around the room.
"You’re not going anywhere. I can't have anyone human seeing me like this." Arc reminds me, his voice low, hoarse. "And I'm not going to hurt you." His lips pull into something resembling a smirk, but it's weak, strained. "You’re my meat, after all."
My stomach churns. "I-What? Arc, please, cover your fangs."
His jaw clenches, and he looks away for a moment, inhaling sharply through his nose. When his eyes return to mine, there’s an edge of desperation in them. "I can't."
