Chapter 2 Isabella’s POV “That arrogant prick,” I muttered under my breath as I stormed into the crowded investor dinner two nights later, my black cocktail dress hugging every curve I knew he would stare at. My skin still felt hot from the boardroom stare down. I had spent the last forty eight hours trying to forget how my body reacted to Victor Kane, but the second I spotted him across the room chatting with some investors, my thighs clenched again. His eyes found mine immediately like he had been waiting.

CHAPTER 27 Nova Sterling Point Of View “You used to love skating with me.” Callan's voice sounds rough, like dry old sandpaper with a crack at the edge. His fingers touch my wrist as he gives me the skates. Even through my gloves, his touch feels hot. I pull my hand away fast. “You know nothing about my likes and dislikes.” “Please try to remember.” He puts his bare hand on the ice. Thin cracks split the surface apart, glowing like golden fire underwater.

Hailey smiled, her heart racing as they began to skate together. Cassian guided her effortlessly across the ice, their movements synchronized like a graceful dance. Every glide and twirl they made together was filled with a natural rhythm, their connection evident to everyone watching. Hailey felt light in his arms, her laughter bubbling up again as Cassian expertly spun her around, his protective grip never faltering. At one point, Cassian twirled Hailey so that she spun out but immediately pulled her back into his chest, their closeness making her cheeks flush. He lowered his lips near her ear and whispered, "See, we make the perfect team."

~HUNTER’S POV~ The room has a faint but clear smell of her perfume. The bed is neatly made, and her books are lined up in straight rows. Christmas lights twinkle around photographs covering one entire wall—her life in snapshots, from gap-toothed baby to glowing young woman. And there, in the center of it all, is us. Our first date photo. She had insisted on ice skating instead of dinner at some stuffy restaurant, laughing as she staggered on the rink while I tried desperately not to fall.

When she saw me, she stopped. “Hi,” she said softly. “Hey.” I watched her carefully cross the ice in regular shoes, moving like she was afraid she’d slip. When she got close enough that I could see the uncertainty in her hazel eyes, I offered her my hand. She took it. Her fingers were cold. “You said it was important,” she said. “It is.” I led her to the edge of the rink where the boards were, and we sat on the bench. Not touching. Just close enough that I could smell her….that vanilla scent that had been driving me insane since the courtyard.

Zeke was fast, too fast, the second I almost grabbed his vest, he'd swerve to another direction. I would lose my balance and try not to land flat on my face “Even if you don't touch me, try not to fall down.” Gosh, this was so hard, but if I want a chance against Adrian. I have to be committed. I spent an hour skating after Zeke, not once did I manage to touch his vest. My legs shook like I had been lifting weights, and I was drowned in sweat. “No offence Zeke, I don't see how this is going to help me.” I panted.

Lips and tongue spoke words and promises, some of them made no sense to me but that was perfect. The night was cool, the slight breeze from the lake made it even cooler, Kayla's body on mine was cold, raising chills on my body. She felt the chills and pulled back but only a little. "I'm alright," I assured her. Her lips were damp and swollen from kisses. I wanted more. I leaned forward. "Are you sure?" She asked. I nodded. "Right now I don't think I blizzard would stop me from being here with you. All the cold in the world could try and failed."

I couldn't help but smile as I watched the romantic couples skate around on the ice rink holding hands. "Christmas is quite a romantic season for young married couples."Ava winked at me."You should ask my Son to take you ice skating." I chuckled."Oh,I don't know about that. I don't think ice skating would be something that Jeremy would be interested in doing. He'd probably think it's too silly."I took my eyes off the ice skaters and walked on ahead. I couldn't imagine Jeremy Austin on the ice in one of his designer suits,completely out of his comfort zone.I think I'd rather go with Tasha and Alex,they would enjoy it.

Rocket said. You see why I love this woman. How can you not? She is the toughest biker chick I know but is there for a hug when I need it. And I’m getting one now. I hold her as tight as I can and whisper “ I love you, Rocket. I always will.” I hear her sniffle. “ I love you too. Always. But enough of this mushy shit. Time for you to burn up the ice.” She said. Best lady ever. Casper, Viper, Rocket and Nixon escort me to the ice. I get to the center of the ice and wait for my music to start.

At least there, I can have peace. When I arrived at the garden, I felt the peace hugging me. 'Finally.' Away from those stabbing gazes, away from that annoying expression of Rosine, away from that indifferent male lead. Amongst the books I brought with me, there's one with an inconspicuous book with a simple red cover. "From One Space to Another" is the title of the book. It is a romance story about a girl who can teleport from one place to another and a boy who was from another parallel universe.
