If Dogs Had Romance Novels Novels & Stories

Roman’s tone turns steadily cold as he adds, “Fen would more likely hunt him down now, and not in the romantic way.” My eyes light up as I remember, “My book! You saw that in one of my books didn’t you?” The Alpha of the Ironclaw pack reading a romance novel would be about as ludicrous as anything else to anyone else, but I’m his mate, his wife, he isn’t afraid to be silly around me, and as we burst out of the main doors Roman nods. I burst into the kind of spurting giggles that would have expelled water from my mouth if there was any and Roman grins cheekily, still speaking through the mate bond as he says, “I wanted to see if those men you read of have anything on me.”

It was supposed to be a date for Christ’s sake! “While you do that I’ll be inside cleaning the kennels and taking care of their food and water,” she said and disappeared back into the building. He looked over at Laura and her husband, the dogs were running around the small space snarling at each other and rolling in the grass. Laura was watching him from the corner of her eye and he could tell she was enjoying his situation as much as Sophia. Wondering if perhaps he was the one insane after all he bent and petted one of the dogs that were eagerly trying to climb up his legs. He loved dogs, never had any pets growing up, but he had been around enough of them to love them, especially those of

“Treason, Nana. Treason." “It does not matter. We need to find where I belong or what I am.” She goes on again, rambling. I wish I could exchange her for a more understanding wolf. Pushing my hair to the back of my ear, I flip the page of the new book and read through each line. I roll my eyes and scoff. Romance. How can a character’s first interest be about a man? Doesn’t she love coins? Food? Fashion, or even education? Why must it be a man?

Roman chuckled, giving the dog one last pat on the head before heading down to join Ava. Roman walked downstairs carrying the champagne bottle and two glasses, the dog following him like a silent, mysterious companion. He couldn’t help but smile at the surreal yet beautiful moment. Stepping out to the poolside, he found Ava’s eyes widening at the sight of the dog sitting by the edge, its ears flapping as it tilted its head curiously. “Babe, whose dog is that? And how did it…” Ava started, but Roman held up a finger, cutting her off with a playful grin. “I’ll explain later,” he said, setting down the bottle.

Hector looked at me perplexed; it was obvious that he was not understanding what I was saying. I smiled and said, "It's a romantic fantasy novel full of drama, sex, and suspense." "So p**n basically, and about werewolves interesting," Hector chuckled as he placed the book down. "Whatever," I replied, rolling my eyes as I took a bite of my steak. Then I tilted my head to the side and decided to ask him a personal question as well. "Is it true?" I asked. Hector's brows furrowed. "Can you be vaguer?" he replied.

I rake my hands through my hair then take a sip of my black coffee, extra strong this morning since Madi and I were up all-night fucking, making love and enjoying the last pleasures until we can see each other again. She arrests my heart; she owns the damn thing. I couldn’t wish for a better person to claim it, damn this sucks. I’m standing in my grey joggers, my chest is bare, and Honey-Belle sits at my feet, “hey, Girl you want some treats?” I reach for the bag Madi keeps on the countertop and retrieve some mini bone things and place them down in front of her, she wags her cute ass tail and eats away crunching and making adorable sounds. Shit, this place is going to feel so damn empty when

She tilted her head, and looked over at him quizzically. “I didn’t realize dogs had their own written language…what are you reading about? The best howling techniques?” She laughed as she said it, but she kept examining the book. “I’m sorry hun, there are no pictures. I think they save those books for when there are children on board. I can read this to you if you’re interested.” “Do you two ever stop?” Luca said groggily. He turned in his seat and pulled the pillow over his head to drown out their noise.

To be honest, it’s even worse than the previous time! I search the entire institute in look for Jonathan. I ask every single student if they saw him, but no one did. I think about where I first met him, the lake side! Jonathan was playing with the dog we saw at our first encounter. He looks at me and smiles. "Isn't he adorable?" He says, patting the dog. "Yea. He is." I pat it too. Why do I feel so nervous? My chest feels really heavy! "You know they say dogs can sense mythical creatures? Even immortals too! They can even see souls that wander around us! They bark hard if they see one!"

“Especially romance novels. There's something magical about getting lost in a story and experiencing all the emotions along with the characters.” Alpha Xander chuckles, his eyes sparkling with amusement. “I never would have pegged you for a romance novel enthusiast,” he admits, his tone teasing. “But I can see the appeal. There's a certain charm to stories about love and passion.” I nod in agreement, feeling a sense of camaraderie with him as we bond over our shared love of literature. “Exactly,” I say, my voice animated. “And besides reading, I also enjoy spending time outdoors, going for hikes, and exploring the beauty of nature.”

I thought maybe my mate just wasn't close by yet, that fate would bring us together when the time was right. I waited through nineteen, then twenty, then twenty-one. Now I am twenty-two and still completely alone. Catherine had found her mate the day she turned eighteen. They'd locked eyes across a crowded room and both knew instantly. But here I was, four years later, with nothing. Maybe I didn't have a mate. Maybe I was one of those unlucky wolves who was destined to be alone forever. Maybe I'd waited long enough and it was time to accept reality. "I'll just go," I said firmly, avoiding his question entirely. "When do we need to tell them someone is coming?"
