**Winter's POV** My mind was a whirlwind of uncertainty and determination as I clutched the decoy book close. A part of me feared the witches would see through the facade and refuse to help. But I had to try—I couldn’t return to my friends empty-handed. Reaching the edge of the mystical boundary, I paused, taking a moment to ground myself. The Moonshade Lilacs greeted me like old friends, their petals shimmering softly. I inhaled deeply, the magical aroma infusing me with courage. The boundary once again parted for me, wisps of violet mist swirling in its wake, guiding my steps back into the witch realm.

My sketchbook was open, but instead of drawing the architecture of the vaulted ceilings, I was doodling a very detailed caricature of Asher Vale with steam coming out of his ears. He was currently being a monumental pain in my lower back. After the warehouse incident, his "possessive protector" dial had been turned up to a solid eleven. It was annoying. It was overbearing. And God help me, it was making it really hard to remember that I was supposed to be the "sensible" one in this fake-dating disaster. "You always did have a habit of biting your lip when you were concentrating on a drawing," a voice smooth as aged whiskey murmured from the shadows of the bookshelf.

When they graduated and became men who have to deal with problems in their personal lives, their level of communication somehow lessened. However, they tried their best to keep the flame of their friendship burning by holding occasional get togethers, game nights, road trips, and what not. But now? just like that, one of them is gone?

Relying on his strong writing skills, he was recruited by Steve into the public relations department. "Using a teacher as a live stream host, isn't that a bit of a stretch?" I asked, feeling a bit unsure. Steve ruffled my hair and said, "It might be a stretch, but let him give it a try. Who knows, there might be a pleasant surprise." After thinking it over, I agreed to the idea.

She sighed, picking up the fallen pen and turning back to her writing. “Your best friend is a nine tailed fox” he repeated, coming to rest on the table she was writing on. “Yes” she snickered, looking up at him, “You sneak out at night and turn into some creature with nine tails. It’s a secret, nobody knows but me; your best friend; Joan. Shhhh, don’t tell anyone” She finished in a dramatic whisper, a small smile on her face as she watched him burst into laughter again. “You've watched too many Korean series” he commented when he finally stopped laughing.

He sat in a back corner booth with three men whose names didn't matter because they weren't the kind of people who existed in his real life. "Well, well," one of them said, a heavyset man with a scar running down his left cheek and hands that looked like they'd done significant damage over the years. "Look who finally remembers he's got friends that aren't CEOs and country club members. What's it been, Carlos? Six months? A year?" "I've been busy," Carlos said, his tone clipped and distracted as he scrolled through his phone with barely concealed disgust. "Getting married tends to consume a lot of time and energy."

I round the corner heading to the library when I meet Samuel,a friend I'm doing a science project with,we talk for a few minutes and he walks the other direction. I'm still smiling when a figure catches my attention,my head snaps to the side and I see Andrew standing near the school parking lot, staring straight at me,his pose is straight,like a tree, unmoving and very scary. I stare back at him but he doesn't move,he might as well be a robot right now. I start to walk cautiously slowly not removing my eyes from him. The moment I make six steps he starts moving in my direction so fast like a switch has been turned on.

I opened my eyes and saw a little boy, around Zenobia's age, standing next to her. "Who's he?" I asked. "I made a boyfriend, Mommy." THE END

I often wondered why Zack and I became friends. That thought would lead me to wonder how we stayed friends for so long. Sure we were similar, but we were also very very different. Zack was naturally charming and well-liked, he was a huge fan of tomatoes and pickles on the other hand I was an awkward, unfriendly people-hating tomato avoiding, pickle despising person. It didn't take someone with two brain cells to see how different we are yet we've been friends since the very beginning of time. I'm convinced we were friends in a past life as well.
