His words hit me like a punch to the gut, casually wiping away all that had happened between us. The impact was terrifyingly potent. I felt a lump in my chest, and I doubled over, coughing so hard it felt like my heart was ripping apart. When I finally caught my breath, I looked at my hand, covered in fresh blood. Keith saw it too. His expression darkened, and he was at my side in an instant, his voice deep with concern. "What's going on?"

The cops stared at each other and stared back at her. “We have no idea what you are talking about but we are here because of this book. Your fingerprints were on them, so… You were definitely at the crystal water beach” they said. Emma had her eyes fixed on the book. She blinked repeatedly. “It was the book from that day, the game book. How did it get to them?” She thought, moving back away from them.

… On the other hand, James had moved into a new room on another spiritual mountain. He took out a book with a clean and dark red cover. It was the Blood Mantra that Thea had given him. As he carefully flipped to the first page of the book, James could see lines of strange and mysterious inscriptions on that page. Just then, those inscriptions appeared to move and float in the air. Soon enough, words in a foreign script began to form before James’ eyes. James was the only person who could see those words since he was holding the book. If someone were to walk in on James now, they would only see that James’ eyes were glowing with an eerie, blood-red light at that moment.

Not even the brainiacs of the school are here. Wow. Even the librarian is missing. He leads me towards the crime section, forcing me to sit behind one of the desk and wait while he searches for something. "I read your file." He says, pulling a book from the fourth shelf. "You did?" "Yes. I sent it to you as well. You truly can evade death. From the coroner's report. You suffered the worst death out of your entire family. He believes you were either the first or last to die, and you were giving a horrid torture."

I screamed, feeling on the verge of losing my mind. Blood was dripping from my fingers, but I didn't even feel the pain as I gripped the blade. Mom didn't even glance at my injury. She nodded firmly. "Yes!"

I can't stop asking her. I know Shantelle's Grandma said something about my blood but I still don't fully understand. My brain couldn't even absorb what she was saying. "I think it's about your blood?" She said, I questioningly. "I don't know! I don't have a clue either. Let's just follow Grandma because what she said seems serious," she added. I just nodded. I don't know why that old woman is so serious. I still can't get over the bleeding in one of her eyes as if it was dangerous for a creature to see my life. "Let's go,"

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN Irina's POV I slit my throat. There was so much blood. It sprayed across the leather seats. I saw it splashed onto Alexei's newspaper. It soaked into my clothes, turning everything red. I saw the shock on Alexei's face. His eyes went wide. His mouth dropped open. He wasn't expecting it. "What did you..." he started to say. But I did not hear the rest. Everything was spinning. The world was tilting sideways.

“Because I know what it’s like to be watched by everyone.” The words cracked something in me. The arrogance was gone for that heartbeat, stripped bare to something raw. I didn’t push. I just turned back to the shelves. And then I saw it. A yellowed page was tucked between the heavy books, its faded ink still clear enough to read. My hand shook as I pulled it free. The title was scrawled at the top in jagged letters: First Blood. My eyes scanned the words, fragments only. Before wolves, before oaths, there was the First. Blood that commands, blood that binds. Not beast, not man, but both. The source. The curse.
