Eddie's father died when he was 12 years old leaving him to provide for the family. His mother was blind, and he had a little sister named Carol. Eddie was convicted of killing a farmer with his BB Gun while hunting rabbit. Eddie was sent to prison. While in prison he meets Daisy that loved him like a son. Daisy was determined to help Eddie prove he is innocent. Carol becomes ill when Eddie is in prison. Eddie finds a way to visit Carol. Eddie never gives up on returning home to his mother and Carol.

Allongée devant la salle d'opération, j'ai appelé désespérément toute ma famille et mes proches, espérant trouver quelqu'un pour signer le consentement d'opération, mais chaque appel s'est conclu par raccrocher. Mon fiancé, Guillaume, m'a envoyé un message après m'avoir raccroché : « Charlotte, arrête de ton caprice. C'est le passage à l'âge adulte aujourd'hui pour Doria. On en parlera après le banquet s'il y a une urgence. » En lisant son message, j'ai tout compris. J'ai posé mon téléphone et ai signé calmement le consentement moi-même. C'était la quatre-vingt-dix-neuvième fois qu'ils me négligeaient pour s'occuper de Doria. J'ai décidé d'arrêter de mendier leur attention. Je n'étais plus triste de leur favoritisme. Au contraire, je me pliais à toutes leurs demandes. Ils pensaient tous que je suis devenue sage et obéissante, mais ils ignoraient que j'étais sur le point de les quitter pour toujours.
