The moment I finish bathing and dressing up, I head to her bedroom where I meet her sleeping peacefully on her bed. She looks so calm and peaceful. Like an angel. My heart breaks into pieces when I think of the accusations levied against her. It's true that a book should not be judged by the cover, but this girl sleeping before me cannot be guilty of the crimes they accuse her of. She's innocent. She has got to be innocent.

“Innocent? So that also makes you innocent? Oh! Fuck your innocence! ” “Ryo, without evidence, my son is innocent.” Dini pulled Sachin into a hug, wiping the blood with his arms, twisting the facts into lies. “Well, cheers to your definition of fucking innocence.” Without giving them a chance to react, he gave Sachin a twin slap. “Ryo!!!” Dini screamed, only to get kicked on the shoulder, and before he could sit to protect his son, he was kicked again, flat on the floor, where he belonged.

"Leave my daughter Accardi! She is innocent!" She shouts and I get up from my seat, placing my hands back in my pocket and towering over him. "Innocent? Innocence doesn't mean anything in our business David,it is just a weakness. This 10 year boy was innocent,but did you spare him?" He gulps to look up at me. "My Amara was innocent but what did you did?" I ask stepping more closer to him ,he takes a step back afraid. "You killed her innocence. You tainted her skin in scars,you broke apart her delicate heart.

But his hand was held in mid-air and caught by Jessica. That day Jia was attacked by a group of goons that she hired by herself. When she came back home crying her father asked the reason. Jia gave him some clues and directed the crime towards Jessica. Enraged by this Father Han got Jessica home and was willing to beat Jessica to death for the crime she never committed. Jessica was already used to the groundless assumptions that were put on her by the pair of mother-daughter who were seen as animals to her.

If she let it out, all it would give her was exposure to the shame that came after and none of the salvation she needed. She lifted her legs to the couch below her and hugged them. So, this was it. She was judged guilty and now had to choose her sentence. That was the little mercy he gave her. He would not listen to her. He did not care what she had to say. All he was going to live on was what he saw and what his brother said. Nothing she said would change the future. Absolutely nothing. Not even her innocence. She was charged with a crime she didn’t commit. And he was living by the rule that every criminal says they are innocent. He forgot that the innocent plead innocent too.

I said determinedly. Our gaze locked on each other. For a moment, none of us spoke. Then, he chuckled slowly, bitterly. “You’re too innocent, Elowen. And you know, what they call innocence these days?” He gazed up at me. “Foolish…” He mumbled. I blinked, honestly, offended as well, but— he didn’t lie. Innocents nowadays are labeled as fools, although I have doubts about my innocence. I stepped closer and sat beside him, trying to mask the quickening of my heartbeat. “It’s fine. I— I can handle it,” I muttered, attempting bravery, though my hands trembled ever so slightly.

“Bloody.” My stomach twisted. I didn’t like this story, and I didn’t understand why he was telling it now, of all times. “The father wasn’t home. So the little boy ran around the neighborhood begging for help.” The silence that followed was suffocating. “That little boy learned 3 things that day. Do you want to know what they were?” It seemed like a rhetorical question. My answer didn’t matter… he was practically lost in his tale. “One… that safety doesn’t exist. People can be bought and sold. Two… good people get punished. And three…” He glanced at me, his eyes hard. “The system always protects the wrong people.”

Looking at the sweet little girl in front of me, I couldn't fathom how Yvonne had the heart to hurt such innocent children. Annie's father, worried about his daughter's reclusive nature and that she might be bullied at school, had pinned a small camera to her chest. That camera was my one lifeline—the proof of my innocence. I sent the footage from the day before into the parents' group chat and tagged everyone. It was the first time I had seen the video myself. The timestamp showed 2:05 p.m.—the exact moment I had sent Yvonne to fetch Ethan's parents.

Dear my beloved readers, I know this part of the story will upset some of you, but I think making mistakes is an essential part of character development. If you have read my first book Disgraceful, you should have known that the hero is also fatally flawed.
