I bark a laugh at the unexpected insult to her previous school, then slap my hand over my mouth to stop it.

"No need. My point is, a boy with your background, you could easily have given up, taken a different path, so it shows the sort of man you are." I swallow a lump in my throat but he pretends not to notice and carries on. "I watched you this week, you didn't expect it but you somehow inspired loyalty from not only your squad mates, but also my own Marines and were surprised and grateful. Like I said, you impressed me and I know, whatever you choose to do, you will be successful. I'm fairly sure you don't hear that a lot."
