Motivation through connection, not achievement, is what I needed. 'A Man Called Ove' by Fredrik Backman fits that. It’s about a grumpy, suicidal widower whose rigid world is persistently invaded by his loud, messy neighbors. Slowly, against his will, their needs give him a reason to live again.
It’s hilarious and heartbreaking. The motivation it offers is about the purpose we find in community and being needed, even in small, inconvenient ways. It made me value my own connections more and see how showing up for others, even when you don’t feel like it, can rebuild your own spirit.
