The blindfold was yanked off, and I blinked against the sudden light, trying to focus.
When my vision cleared, I found myself face to face with a man I did not recognize. He had a cruel smile on his face, and his eyes were cold and calculating. But there was something about him.
“So, you’re the one making things difficult for us,” the man sneered, his tone full of contempt.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I replied, my voice muffled by the tape. He signaled to one of his men, who ripped the tape off again, this time leaving my lips burning.
