“Certainly,” I replied and then added, “forgive me.”
“There is nothing to forgive, m’ lady,” he said firmly. “I shall get to the point of why we speak.” He stood up and walked to the unlit fireplace. Leaning his shoulder against the mantle he proceeded to say, “I am a vampire.”
