Broken by One, Desired by All
Too quiet.
The common room stretched out before me, dimly lit by the soft glow of enchanted lamps lining the walls. Shadows curled lazily in the corners, untouched and still, and the usual noise… voices, laughter, someone arguing over something ridiculous was completely absent.
Empty.
I exhaled slowly, the sound too loud in the silence. "Of course," I muttered. "Perfect timing." No distractions. No interruptions. Just me and my thoughts.
Great.
I dragged myself forward and dropped onto the couch, the cushions dipping under my weight as I let my head fall back. The leather was cool against my neck, a small comfort that did nothing to quiet my mind.
