I can hear the fire in your mind burning.”

“It's sage. I'm cleansing negative energy. This house is practically marinated in it.” He stared at the swirling smoke. “You know what else gets rid of bad energy? Moving out.” I ignored him. “You could use a little cleansing, too. Want me to waft some toward that cold, unforgiving soul of yours?” He crossed his arms. “Pass. If I wanted to be smoked like a Christmas ham, I’d go visit my mother.” The sage popped in the fire, letting out a puff so thick it made him cough too. I smirked. “See? That’s your bitterness trying to escape.”
