Three days later, the rescue team broke through the door. What they found inside made their skin crawl.
In the corner of the basement, two figures were huddled together. Their clothes were in rags, and they smelled terrible. Between them sat the tin of spam, the same one that had been there beside my body. It was still sealed.
When the light hit their faces, they both looked up at the same time. Their eyes were empty, unfocused, and they were both wearing a strange, hollow smile.
