LOVE BEYOND THE PAIN
Those words didn’t come from Gian.
They came from Nathan.
Aurelia froze. She expected Gian to correct him, or at least question what Nathan had just said. But the man beside her only murmured something under his breath and didn’t respond at all. Instead, Gian calmly extended his hand toward Aurelia, almost politely, as if nothing had happened.
They shook hands with a strange, awkward formality.
The atmosphere shifted instantly.
Nathan, noticing the stiffness between them, seemed to relax instead. With a half-laugh, he said, “She married someone else even though we were still dating. Her husband, apparently. She got married because her family was being threatened.”
