I stumbled back, my legs giving out as I sank onto the bed. My head spun, her words echoing in my ears.
“Sophia… we’ve been best friends forever,” I said weakly. “You’ve always known I’m gay. How—”
“I know,” she said quickly, her hands twisting together nervously. “I know, Liam. But feelings don’t always make sense. I didn’t mean for this to happen.”
I ran a hand through my hair, my chest tightening painfully. “Sophia, I… I don’t even know what to say.”
