CHAPTER 4

Chapter 4

Ansel's POV

When someone hit me that night In the park, I never imagined that it would be her. I never imagined that she would be the one, neither did I think she would be hurt and running away from an abusive ex. Nothing about her situation at that point was expected, when I had a meeting with Bruce that night for the update of the treaty, and I picked the park I couldn’t place why until she crashed in to me.

During my eighteenth birthday, I realized that my mate wasn’t who I thought it was, it wasn’t my girlfriend, Sofia, who later betrayed me. The moon goddess told me it was going to be somebody I never expected, someone ill never imagined.

She was right, Violet wasn’t what I expected. After dealing with the filthy boyfriend of hers and his friends, I wanted nothing more than to take her with me and protect her at all cost. It disgusted me that me that had manhandled her and I was going to make sure to break everyone in his body for treating her like that.

When she refused to let me touch her and clean up her wound it infuriated me the more, she thought I was kidnapping her when I just wanted to keep her safe. Her desperate pleas to go back home was stupid, that place was the least safest for her. She belonged here, she belonged with me. Safe.

One thing j can’t tell her is that I’m not human, I can imagine the sour expression on her face if she knows about me being a werewolf and her being my mate. She would loose her mind, will th all that happened today, it’s safe not to mention anything to her just yet.

After locking her in one of the rooms upstairs I made a call for Henry, my beta and my best friend.

“I found her.” Was the first thing I said after picking up.

“You found who?” Henry asked clearly confused as to what I was referring to.

“My mate. I found her.” I repeated pacing around the room.

“No way-” Henry mouthed. “How- where?”

“It’s a long story Henry, but she’s here with me.”

“Wait- she is? How did you get her to stay with you? Why is so many piece of information missing?” when I don’t reply, Henry doesn’t hold back a groan. “Don’t tell me you forced her to your house?”

“I did, she was in a sticky situation and I saved her. Her ex was hitting her.”

Oh-”

While I spoke to him my eyes picked up at the sound of someone walking, seeing that it was just me and violet, it had to be her. But how did you she get out?

She must be heard me on the phone with Henry as she was lost in her thought and didn’t notice that I was in front of her.

How did you get out?” she was shocked that I had caught her red handed, wanting to know what she heard I asked her about it but she plainly denied that she heard anything. If it wasn’t for the way she played with her nails I would’ve believed her.

In the end while I carried her back upstairs she kicked and pleaded that I take her home and in as much as I wanted to I wouldn’t let her just leave, she is important to me and I’m not going to let her go.

“Pleas- just- I just want to go-“ She pleaded but I had already made up my mind. She was safe here. She had picked the lock to the door but I warned her that she couldn’t leave.

After closing the door behind me I listened, waiting for her to scramble for the door to struggle but didn’t, instead she cried. I don’t know how much I stood there until I went back to her room, there she was curled up on the floor fast asleep.

“The bed is right in front of you V.” I whispered to myself running my hands through my hair. She felt small against mg bulky drain, small and she fit perfectly. She smelled like fresh pineapple, even with the little dirt on her clothes she looked cute. I stayed outside her room after putting her to bed, sleep wasn’t my friend so it was normal.

The next morning I made breakfast and went to check in on her, she was still deep in sleep when I got there. Her innocent face radiated with so much innocence and naivety. Her deep brown hair was spread in messy waves on the bed, even under the soft sun I could tell how pale her skin was.

When her eyes opened up, the sharpest shade of honey eyes met mine. She was shocked that I was there and crumbled to the ground.

“Good, you’re awake, come down for breakfast.” She was visibly shocked that I invited her for breakfast.

Shortly after Violet is down all washed up and presentable, I asked her to join me to eat and after trying to be stubborn she obeyed.

I watched her as she ate reluctantly and I started quizzing her about how much she heard the night before, she did not answer me instead she quizzed me back and I was irritated by her counter action, we were in the middle of it all when Henry called. It was hard convincing her to stay but this would be the last push she need to see that this isn’t a bluff.

"What is it?” I asked with my knuckles tucked under my chin.

Apparently you were right, her mother was attacked during the early hours of the morning.” Henry said.  At the mention of her mother Violet stiffened, she was afraid. She didn’t want anything to happen to her parents, she was selfless even after everything they’ve caused for her.

“Deal or no deal?” She knew she was running on thin ice, she couldn’t help her family but I could.

What do I have to do?”
