She followed closely behind Isabella while Isabella used her eyes to scan around as if looking for someone. "I am looking for my best friend," Isabella told her. Just then a girl eating alone called out for Isabella and waved at her to come. Isabella's eyes brightened immediately as they walked toward the girl. "That is my best friend, Cheryl Davis from Class C." Thelma nodded as they went to sit with Cheryl, the moment they sat down, Cheryl's eyes were glued on Thelma's face and then she turned to Isabella. "Gosh, Bella, where do you find this bitch?!"

Elias smiled. It was a wide, satisfied smile, the smile of a man who had just convinced himself he had won something that was never really a competition. "You see?" he said, turning to Isabella. "I told you she'd choose them over pride." Isabella said nothing. She was still watching me. She was smarter than him. She always had been, and that was the most dangerous thing about her, the way she wore her intelligence quietly, the way she let men like Elias feel clever while she watched every room for the exit.
