Sera’s POV ; I did not breathe properly, this wasn't because I could not breathe, it was because for the fact that breathing right now simply felt like a permission that would allow something outside of me to notice me. The window was slightly covered by thick black curtains, it was night time and I could feel the cool breeze, the air was crisp and fresh. I also noticed that outside, the night time in Duskborne Palace was way too quiet, it was even more quiet than a graveyard, as if there was no single person inhabiting it

“Here, it’s almost time for dinner.” “Thanks,” the boy replied before taking a huge bite. “Did your father ever tell you any stories concerning an old man and a foggy hill?” Rhina inquired. “Nope,” Ishida answered plainly. “How many stories about old men did he tell you?” the girl asked. “Quite a lot! Seven, if I remember correctly. ‘The Woodcutter and the Door of Fates’ was one... ‘The Old Man and the Desert of No Return’ was another. Oh yes, there were ‘The Legend of King Makarael the Great,’ ‘Hayami’s Grandfather,’ ‘Heroes of Aquarius,’ ‘Sir Kharkin of the Seven Seas,’ and ‘Aram the Master Sage.” Ishida recalled. “None of them were about a gravestone or a hill.”

Justin remained staring out at the blackened sky from the window. He hadn't spoken to me for some time seemingly content to stand in silence. Emma left for her shift a while ago to prepare breakfast for the morning meal. She wouldn't be back for some time. The stars flickered through the curtains dotting the ceiling in starlight. The snow capped mountains beyond stood proud and ominously against the star flecked sky. “Goodnight Val.” Justin eventually murmured heading for the door.

I found it impossible to sleep due to the intense feelings that I had experienced with Ikaris. I cleaned my room until two a.m. to take my mind off things. Despite the distractions, my mind was fixated on him, and I couldn't help but constantly think about him. I found myself unable to get his hazel-brown eyes, his alluring lips, and his charming smile out of my mind as I lay in bed. There was a warm and pleasant sensation that washed over me as I reflected on the tingles he caused when our hands made contact. I closed my eyes for a moment, took a deep breath, and whispered to myself, "Breathe, Alassandra, just breathe."

Big bag alpha indeed. I stood looking out the large window in the main room drinking my coffee. I was watching the snow fall from the dark sky. I could hear people in the kitchen, which meant they were starting breakfast for everyone. A few flurries had begun to fall as I was falling asleep last night, but the storm must have hit full force sometime during the night. I am not sure what woke me this early but once I am awake, I cannot go back to sleep. I looked over my shoulder when I heard someone walk into the room. “Why are you up so early?” Niro asked.

I run my hand over his sleek fur and let my eyes fall shut. Lucas is listening to an audio book, and I stay awake and pay attention for three chapters before I fall asleep, slipping into the same dream I keep having. The demon. Being surrounded by hellfire. The blue-eyed man just looking at me, not speaking. Not moving. Not giving me a single fucking clue to why he keeps pulling me back here. I watch myself almost burn and feel the same desperation take me over.

Yet, instead of saying or doing something about, he just stood there… Admiring her and all that she was. She had a mountain of midnight curls, spiraling in all directions. She had a pair of grey-hazel eyes that were ringed with thick lashes. Her skin was dark, and lovely. Hints of bronze and deep golds contoured the gentle hollows in her cheeks. She was tall in her stature, and a bit fuller in figure. At least Caspius knew she wouldn’t break easily. Watching Isla interact with her, was somewhat nerve racking. Though the chimera was gentle in her attempts to interact with this specimen of a woman, she still flinched at every moment of contact. Gods, what is her name.

This couldn’t go on. Aiden ignored the thoughts ricocheting through his mind as to whether night terrors were like a sleepwalker’s trek—and if they were, was premature waking a bad idea?—and shook his partner as hard as he could. Danny flipped over, scream cut short, and snatched Aiden by the neck. Fingers curled around his throat. A semi-strong grip. Moments before, Aiden had been dreaming of Australia, as he so often did, memories and fantasies mixing together like tree breeds in the bush.
