"Your territory is a ghost, silver wolf," Carmilla whispered, her long, pale fingers sliding across the moss to rest flat against Astrid’s chest, her palm drinking in the steady, frantic, and fiercely protective thud-thud-thud of her heartbeat. "Above this ridge, our empires are hunting for corpses. They think we are dead, or worse, hiding in a ditch. But tomorrow evening... tomorrow evening the moon will bleed. The celestial alignment is absolute. The Blood Eclipse will find us."
