Chest out, shoulders back, I walked out of the dark and turned my gaze to every corner of the coliseum, and with a devilish grin on my lips, I raised my weapon and they screamed my name… just how I want them to. "And her challenger..." the announcer paused for a while, I crossed my arms and everyone went silent, patiently waiting until, "another daughter of Hikaris, the Mistress of Dexo Fernia, Elspeth!"

She had been one of the most important people in my childhood and was among the very few people I had still kept contact with when I left my hometown. Joanna was a darling. I remembered wondering as a kid how she always had a smiling face and an ever excited countenance. I had never succeeded in understanding the woman...not ever. To Joanna, everyday was meant to be a ’fun' and she would always do all in her power to make sure there was literally no dull moment in her life. For a woman who had been crippled from birth, Joanna found many ways to live beyond her problems and limitations.

She had let down her guard, and now she would pay. “Yeah, she’s a big one.” Joe nodded. “We figured one dart would be enough . . . took two.” He ran his hand over her side. She attempted her most terrifying growl, but it sounded more like a sickly, low moan. “Maybe 110pounds, more the size of a gray.” He chuckled. “I know, I know, I told you she’s big. No, not fat. Lean as they come, just longer-legged and longer bodied, and she has the prettiest red pelt you ever did see.”

I giggle as John frowns at me. "It's late," John says, "I think you should get into bed, Andrea." It's barely past sunset but I don't argue. The softness of my bed is beckoning. I sway towards it. "mmmm okay." I breath slowly climbing into bed. "She needs to shower and eat." Christophe steps in front of John. "No." John says firmly, "you've just done the one thing that'll prevent her from doing those things on her own." He pushes past Chris to me. Pulling the thick comforter over my body.

★JENNIE★ "A-nty Jennie, I want cornflakes." I tore my gaze away from my phone and looked down at my adorable four-year-old sister, Joanna. She meant the whole world to me and I don't mind going through hell and back, just to make sure she is always doing fine.

Send Lizzy over to my favorite hotel so she can help relieve my stress. Joanna rolled her eyes in disgust while Lizzy came into her bedroom at that moment, "alright Kingston. I'll send her right away." As she ended the call, Joanna said, "he's so useless. He hasn't been able to find Tisha and can't even fish out her whereabouts from Mira." "Who is Mira?" Lizzy asked. Joanna went ahead to explain the situation with Mira while Lizzy listened without much of a reaction. Joanna hadn't gone to work because she felt so tired and could barely get out of bed.

They all got silent soon enough until Joana spoke again. "I don't want to die, guys," She said with her eyes staring deep into the sky. "I want to live long and get married to John with you girls as my bridesmaids, I want to have beautiful kids and get insecure as they grow older. I want to have a successful career as a doctor. Life is precious guys, and I don't want to lose it." "I'm sorry Jo, we will figure something out," Grace said. "There's no time. Friday is just five days away." Joanna replied. "Don't tell me you're hopping on Veronica."

Nathan grits his teeth and calls my dad a liar. “He’s not lying, Nathan. Jo told us at the same time.” He paused for a second. “Joanna is a soldier. She follows orders. Sarah told her to go, and she did.” He tells Nathan. Who doesn’t seem to know what to say? Other than begging Jo for forgiveness and saying that he missed and loved her. “I need to check on Ora,” I tell them, excusing myself. There is too much emotion in that room for me to deal with right now.

She looked sharply at Helen and Grace. “This is really terrible,”Joanna exclaimed. “The same house I went all out for. Paying to Jacquelyn every single month without missing one. It’s that same house I couldn’t stay in without fear for my life and my child’s life”. Helen rolled up her shirt I showed Joanna her plastered arm.

"Call me Joanna. Or Jo. Or literally anything, I'm easy." Her grandfather, Colonel Haines, leans forward with quiet pride. "She grew up in the States. English is her first language, but she's been trying." He chuckles. "She's been trying." "She's charming," Robert says, and means it. "Jo, this is my son Liam, his wife Allie, and my grandson Adam." Joanna's gaze moves around the table — past me, past Adam — and then settles back on Liam with an expression that is warm and openly appreciative and completely unconcerned with hiding either quality.
