The Collision
When he saw me, he straightened up but didn’t smile.
“Hey,” he said softly.
I sat down on the far end of the bench, leaving space between us. My hands rested in my lap, fingers twisting together. “Hey.”
We sat in silence for a moment. The night air was cool, and the campus felt quieter than usual.
I spoke first. “We need rules. Real ones before this gets messy.”
Jace nodded, turning slightly toward me. “I agree. That’s why I wanted to talk too.”
I looked at him, trying to keep my voice steady. “Three months. Public only, no private hangouts like this unless it’s absolutely necessary, no late-night calls and no texting about anything personal.”
