Like the thought of university, the idea of making fruit punch or carving pumpkins had felt hollow without my friends and family surrounding me. I felt my expression drop, and then Skye was beside me. He gave my hand one last squeeze before letting go, and then, in its place, he was hoisting a gigantic pumpkin into his arms. “Well,” Skye grinned, hefting the pumpkin in his hands, “we’d better rectify that, right now.”

She’s probably out there living her Disney moment.” Jackson’s eyes narrowed. “If I hear the word ‘queen’ one more time tonight, I’m jumping out a window.”

Watching the Hummers sent to gather King Killian from the airfield park in front of the Palace, I step forward to greet the Demon King as he climbs out of the back of the first Hummer, his long legs and sturdy frame not what I expected. “Queen Isabella, so nice to see you again.” King Killian, a man standing over seven feet tall with long flowing black hair, pale skin, and ruby red eyes, says with a wide smile, but I notice the way his smile does not reach his eyes.

Jack walked up to his desk and immediately turned on his computer. After entering his password and fingerprint, the computer did not start up as usual, but instead went black. He furrowed his brows, feeling a sense of foreboding. Just as he was about to shut down and restart the computer, several animated characters suddenly appeared on the screen. Richard sometimes watched cartoons, and Jack had seen them occasionally when he visited his old home. He recognized the characters as Peppa Pig and her family.

Jones utters in shock when she walks out of her bathroom and finds a huge pumpkin on her bed. Just then the pumpkin shakes, causing her to jump in fright; even as a fearsome warrior, she got startled. She slowly approaches the bed after grabbing her sword, intending to cut the pumpkin open to check. But before she can strike, a baby's cry rings out. Mrs. Jones gasps as she hurriedly tosses her sword to the side and approaches the pumpkin. Taking a closer look at the pumpkin, the name Caroline in olden writings, and she realizes the thing has a lid. She opens it, and a beautiful baby girl smiles at her.
