I leaned close to the girl who had at some point creeped into the cave and I saw her name, at that moment I understood something. The name Jade froze me for a second. If I could recall properly, that was Cayden's mother's name. “Hi.” Jade waved her hands to Lana who was tending to the cauldron boiling with black mass. “Who?” Lana spun around and directly attacked Jade, pinning her to the floor. “A wolf.” The confused Lana took a long sniff of Jade's body and asked excitedly. “Yes.” Jade nodded, her head bobbing up and down. “I am a wolf and I have been asked to rescue you and Ann.”

Then she grabbed the back and fixed her eyes on me as she dropped the card into the bag. “Oh look, there’s one more,” she said, her voice flat, her eyes still locked on mine. She made a show of pulling out the card. “Huh, well, will you look at that? Ava.” The women watched, wide-eyed, as Jade slapped her knee dramatically. “I win. I heard that Ava has been taking wolf suppressant her entire life and that she’s never. Even. Shifted.” Jade’s words sliced through the air like a blade. Some of the women gasped, and others just looked confused. I turned to Cassie. Her eyes were narrowed.

Moving out the door, it slowly closes behind me. Kate POV I have heard people visiting me off and on when I was semi alert.
