Drake stopped at the door, his hands on his hips as he looked around. Jake moved to extend his hand to him. “Hey, buddy. Thanks for coming.” He turned and pointed to Kari. “This is my girlfriend, Kari. Her friends Sicily and Lisa.” Lisa smiled and waved flirtatiously, forever a redhead. Sicily stared a bit longer than she might have realized. Jake moved Drake over to the pile of supplies and picked up a brush. “We’re just doing the base coat now. Pick a place to get rolling and let’s go. We’ll try and do two coats before we break for the day.”

I walked over to confirm and just as I had guessed, it was her. "Oooh, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to interrupt," I said, patting Kalia on her back. She just looked up at me, smiling softly like she always did. "Did you want something?" she finally said, recovering. "Yeah, I need to talk to you for a few seconds." I said, my gaze still on the six foot man standing next to him, "I will have her back in a few minutes." I said, eyes locking. "Actually," Kalia immediately cut me off. "This is Keith, my fiancee'" she said flushing her finger up, and there it was a ring. "Keith, this is Jake, Junior's dad." she said.

However, I’ve found a woman who I would like to spend the rest of my life with-” “Here we go again!” Greyson rolled his eyes. He added, “I know you well enough, son. You have a bad taste in women and you fall in love too easily. Has this woman agreed to marry you?” Jake hesitated. The tips of his ears flushed red as he replied, “Not yet. She doesn’t even know what my thoughts are.”

Jake just smiled at him. “Maybe the girl finally accepted to be his girlfriend.” Jeremy whispered, loud enough for Jake to hear. Jake looked at him and shook his head in dismay. “I only asked if we could be friends and she said yes.” He clarified. “And that is why you are behaving like you just won a jackpot.” Jasper said and gave him the are-you-okay kind of look. Jake frowned his face and looked away.

I don’t think my heart knows it’s okay. “Where’s Kacie?” I asked instead. “She’s still in bed,” Jake said with a smile. “Is she okay?” I asked. “She was asleep when I came down. You weren’t in bed,” he said and trailed off. “I wanted to come and find you. I also thought we could make our queen something to eat.”

Alexander followed him, his phone in hand, tossing it idly as he lay back on Jake’s bed and stared at the ceiling while Jake changed. "I’ll handle it. Be back soon," Jake said, grabbing his car keys. Alexander sat up, watching him. "Where’s Grandma Emma? Haven’t seen her around." "At the office," Jake replied. "And your girlfriend?" Alexander asked with a smirk. Jake frowned in confusion. "Girlfriend?" "You know, what’s her name... Charlotte or something?" Alexander clarified. Jake froze for a second before recognition dawned on him. "Oh!" he exclaimed, a smile tugging at his lips.

Jason commented, shaking his head as he laughed at him. “Just like you and me, right?” I insinuated, looking at him. “Yes, you are the best of me, babe,” he replied, giving me a little kiss. “Hey! There are needy people here, okay?” Jake replied, looking pained. “Take pity on me, couples. I haven’t seen my girlfriend in a long fucking time, damn.” “So why didn’t you bring her to hang out with us today?” Jason asked. “I wish I could, but she's not in New York,” he replied.

I ask. "Not dating particularly just sex." Jake says answering for Zack. "With who?" I ask. "Maddie." Zack says answering. "Really?" I ask surprised because Maddie isn't exactly Zack's type, or maybe I don't know his type. "Yeah she's cool." Zack says. "Okay." I say still a little surprised but I don't ask more. Jake's phone rings showing Paula's name. "We better get going," Jake says. I promised Paula "I will go see her after we're done here."
