(James’ POV) The whiskey burned as it slid down my throat, but it wasn’t enough to dull the weight in my chest. My reflection in the office window stared back at me, the sharp lines of my jaw and the glint of my watch mocking me. Once, I’d been untouchable. Once, the name James Calloway had commanded respect.
