"There’s something timeless about a woman's quest for love and autonomy."

•Isabelle's POV• For my first class of the day, which was also my favorite, we chose Pride & Prejudice to analyze passages from. We'd also be reading it this month for the objective. We were focusing on the 1800's and the flow of Jane Austen's words.

Over the past two weeks, Jane had found herself thinking of Lucie Manette as Grace Anderson, and every once in a while she was Darnay, but mostly she was Sydney Carton. "This is an excellent book," Jane finished reading. "It teaches you about the French Revolution, which took place in the seventeen-nineties in the country of France. It is a good book if you like history or violence or exciting suspense. It is a love story, too. All in all, it is an excellent book."

This one had a black hard cover with the title engraved into it alongside the author’s name. Jane Austen. It was custom-made. Uncle Sebastien was a lot of things, but him reading fictional literature wasn’t one of the things I had expected. He acted twice his age, like he didn’t belong in this generation at all. Everything about him. The way he talked. His mannerisms. Rigid. Controlled. Weird. I flipped through the pages, still trying to process it all. The formatting looked old-fashioned, like one of those historical editions from decades ago. The names “Elizabeth Bennet” and “Mr. Darcy” were highlighted neatly throughout the pages.

I’m almost afraid to touch anything in this room.” “I know you’ll be careful with my things.” She nodded and pulled the book off the shelf. “I didn’t know you liked Jane Austen.” “Why not?” She shrugged. “She’s a woman author.” “I’m broad minded enough to think women have a lot to offer society. I enjoy her work.” “This is one of my favorite books. Sense and Sensibility. The story of two sisters who represent two opposing forces: logic and emotion.” He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms. He seemed to be considering her analysis of the book. “I didn’t think anyone else in Virginia understood that.”

The title of the novel perfectly depicts the story. The novel as everyone knows, is on the life of Elizabeth Bennett and her family. She picked up many books individually and made a pile of them. "When will you read so many books?" Nina asked surprisingly.
