Frowning, I remove its contents, and my eyes grew. “First edition of Jane Eyre!” I say with excitement, then I blanch. Why was I excited about this? I look up at him and see the smile forming on his face. “I knew it,” he says and sits down on the chair next to my bed. “I knew you would remember your favourite book, even if you forgot everything else. Literature used to be your sanctuary.”

“Raf?” But he is gone and I am alone in the lamp. I finish the movie but I have no way to watch another since he just magically made it play. So instead I walk over to the bookshelf and look through the books. He has all the classics and I grab Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Moving over to the bed I lay down and begin to read. I look at my phone to see that it is nine thirty-seven at night. My eyes grow heavy so I finish the chapter before I lay the book aside. I forgot my clothes so I go and put them in the dryer before I return to bed.

Jane I ran to my apartment. It was locked, and the note and keys were still in the box, which meant the brothers did not come as they had promised. I helped myself in and ran straight to my room, shivering with fear. I did not see lizard eyes or dragon scales. I saw live dragons on the roofs, and they did not disappear, they became transparent. It would have been better if my mind had processed them as disappearing that way, I wouldn't think they were still there, but right now, I don't know what to do.

Kerry stood over Jane as she turned the page in her history book, casting a shadow over the pages. She cleared her throat and glanced up at him. "Do you mind? You're blocking my light." He stood back and pulled out the chair next to her, glancing around the library as if he may see the lycan. Jane read over her chapter, trying her hardest to block out the eyes over her shoulder.
