His voice was monotonous but his thoughts were not. "He's my boss, not my lover." She replied, not sparing him a glace. He scoffed internally at her excuse. That was the lamest excuse he had ever heard. Did she really expected him to believe that bullshit? "So, your boss makes you blush and smile like crazy. Am I right?" There was something about his tone which made her frown. He sounded bitter? Annoyed? Cranky? She couldn't figure out. "Why are you acting like a jealous husband?" She just said that to piss him off, not knowing that it might be the truth.

She turned to Dennis and said, “Dennis, this is my boss, Mr Justin Gerano.” Justin raised an eyebrow when he heard Jasmine introduce him as her boss. The events of the past two months showed that they were past the boss to employee relationship but it seemed that Jasmine didn’t feel the same way and it hurt him a little bit to know that. Dennis stood up from his seat and approached Justin with a smile on his face. “Nice to meet you," he said and stretched out his hand to Justin. "Hmmm," Justin simply said and took his hand. There was no way he was going to lie and say that he was also happy to see Dennis.

I inquire sarcastically, but with a tint of irritation that I was unable to hide. “I do, but you’ll receive it on payday, the same time with all the other employees. You do realize that I’m your boss, no?” “Should I quit the job then? You do realize that I was talking about something else entirely, no?” I ask, my voice trembling. “Did you spend much this weekend? After we are done with our lunch, and my best friends have settled their argument if who's going to take care of whose dog, we went shopping for some clothes, then, we finally went to the E&K Industries Headquarters to get Jasmine. "Wow, this building is awesome, girl! Damn! Imagine working on the top floor of this and there will be an earthquake." Valerie let out in awe, and I stopped in my tracks while we walk into the lobby. "I work on the top floor, girls. And, no, I feel precarious there even if there is no earthquake. That's why I really hope that my boss would fire me badly. Giggling at myself, I take another sip of my water. "Miss Jones." Shit! The water forgets its downward trajectory as I cough and nearly spit. Fuck! He isn't in my imagination. I was actually fantasizing over and ogling the real him—my real boss. Before I can respond, Mr. Willis gestures toward the empty barstool beside me. "May I?" My head bobs before my lips move. "Y-yes." "I'm glad I caught you. I wanted to say something before we return to the office tomorrow."

The bastard is trying to mess with my head. "Ha ha, real cute boss. Way to pretend to be so innocent. I didn't use you. You used me! I didn't ask for this. So now that you got it out of the system, just leave me alone for the love of God," I declared. "As you wish. I won't push you any farther. I'd hate to lose a good employee," he smirked.
