I watched him from under my lashes. He had a small scar under his left eye that I had noticed before but never asked about. His hands were wrapped around his container with that stillness I had come to associate specifically with him. He was wearing a blue shirt today. Not grey. Blue. It made his eyes look different. I had not noticed until now that his eyes changed slightly depending on what he wore. I tried distracting myself by looking at my food. I am a twenty eight year old surgeon on trial for murder and I was noticing what colour shirt a man was wearing.

Then Kenny changed. Not completely. Not the dramatic Hollywood version I would have imagined if anyone had asked me to imagine it, which no one ever had because this wasn't something people imagined. It was subtler and more terrifying than that. His eyes changed first — deepening to something amber and luminous that had nothing to do with the warm brown I knew. His frame expanded slightly, shoulders broadening, presence intensifying until he filled the room in a way that had nothing to do with physical size. The air around him hummed.

I understand you are in shock and delusion right now but I killed your lover.“ Xander pushed Lena behind him, moving towards the starlights illuminating the night. “Or maybe you are the delusional one, Jack.“ Jack paled up immediately, his cocky expression slackening. Xander readied his gun, releasing the trigger. “It can't be possible, I killed you.“ “You sure did.“ Xander fired at him in his obvious state of shock. Jack released a guttural groan expressing his pain as the bullet went through his chest, he fell to the ground with shaky breaths. He was trying to keep his weak arms steady in an attempt to fire back at Xander but Xander fired at his wrist loving his paine
