Cynthia’s POV “Jenny, I didn’t do it on purpose. You’re so kind and generous, you’ll forgive me, right?” I tried her best to imitate Jenny’s usual expression and tone of voice. Jenny was disgusted by me, but she couldn’t ruin her image in front of so many people, so she could only squeeze out a smirk and nod her head. “You are so nice.” I said with a smile, “Come here, Jenny, let me see your face. As soon as I said okay she jumped and smiled at me, "Great, let's go." She said with a huge smile, she has the beautiful smile! Her eyes are so bright, so big, so full of joy. She holds a flower under my nose and continues to tickle me with it. "Atchoo. Stop that," I say as my nose starts to run. "Works every time," the girl says with a smirk. "What are you doing here?" I ask her clearly irritated and angry that she disturbed my sleep. "I should be asking you that?" She says with a frown. "I haven't seen you around here though. You must be new. I'm sure you are," she squints at me. "Hi, I'm Geneva Vanderbilt. What's your name?" She says cheerily.

The whispers spread instantly, prickling along my skin like static. Jenny broke the kiss first. Her eyes locked onto mine, triumph glittering in them. She tilted her head and gave me a mocking pout, like she pitied me. Then her mouth curved into a blade of a smile. “Did you really think you could ever replace my mother? Poor Amelia. You’re such a little voyeur, standing there gawking. Maybe stick around, you might learn something to keep Father from getting bored of you. Adam says you’re vanilla anyway.”

I muttered with a sad smile. "But not from us... no matter what happens, we'll always be here for you." Savannah whispered as she gave me a reassuring smile. "I'm so glad you've finally cut ties with those toxic influences. Now my baby is free to be whoever and do whatever she wants!!" Jenny screamed out happily, to probably lighten the mood and it worked. Just then, the TV in front of us was turned on and someone familiar came on screen immediately. "Isn't that Liam?" Jenny asked in surprise.

I stood in the middle of the living room, facing the security camera's blinking red light, practicing my smile again and again. Looking into the lens, I spoke softly, like I was leaving a message for the Mom who'd watch it someday. "Mom, look. I practiced the perfect smile again today. "Lift the corners of my mouth fifteen degrees and show eight teeth. The books say that's the most sincere smile. The one that makes people feel warm. "I've practiced so much my face hurts... but that's okay. "When you watch this tomorrow... will you tell me I did a good job? "Will you finally believe I wasn't lying to you?"
