Jesse’s head snapped up. Bonnie continued to scream. Her face was full of terror. Jesse turned around to see what she was screaming at. A big, pale man wearing a black wife beater and slacks held a knife at the ready. Pure instincts kicked in. Jesse lunged at the intruder. They hit the floor.

KEEP HER SAFE,’ I sent, then a new wave of that pain came and my vision tunneled, then went dark. But before I was swallowed completely, I heard her scream my name. ***** ~ JESSE ~ Watching Cazz’s eyes roll back in his head and his entire, strong body—the arms that had held me and hurt me and seemed to string up the world when he wielded that power—go completely slack was terrifying. “CAZZ!” I screamed.

I would rather die myself, than see my friends dying. "NO!" Claire's deafening screams drowned in the sirens of the police cars as cops reached the scene. Claire struggled in Jesse's arms before kicking him in his shins. He crouched down and hissed in pain. She ran to Jake and took his head in her lap.

The same unknown number. I opened it to see a picture of Ethan tied to a chair, the rope cutting into his wrists and he has black tape over his mouth. His eyes were red, swollen and terrified. Tears streak his face. Something in me snaps. Not anger but something deeper and darker. I was going to kill that son of a bitch. My phone rings immediately. Damian and Marcus both look at me and I nod once indicating it’s them. I picked it up. “Do I have your attention now?” the mechanical voice asks.

I took that feeling and I let it go. I released the protocol. The amber fluid in the tank began to vibrate, turning from a calm glow to a chaotic, boiling white. On the other side of the glass, the woman screamed as the monitors exploded, the data-stream turning into a blizzard of unreadable, emotional noise. The link in my head flared one last time—a bright, blinding flash of amber light that felt like a final, lingering caress. “I love you, Panni,” Jinyan’s voice whispered, and then he was gone.

My nerves claw at me like an animal trying to escape its cage. “One bottle per drink, the man said …” I remember. Jackson presses down on Damion’s chest with rhythmic beats again. “If Lee didn’t hear your girly screams, we would be sitting with two violated corpses about now.” I roll my eyes — or at least the one that still works. My screams were not girly. “They sneak-attacked me from behind,” I rasp, heat rising in my voice. “I was paralyzed. There was nothing else I could do. I was hoping one of you would hear me.”

Sirens scream closer, and we’re out of time. The warehouse door bangs open. “Police! Hands up!” voices shout. My eyes flutter, Levin’s face the last thing I see—those eyes, pulling me in. I’m falling, but I fought for my family. For Jerry. The city’s growl fades, and everything goes black.

I slam keys, trying to pull the signal back, and for a second, I get it—one grainy frame that burns into my eyes. Jaxon. Mid-turn, face caught in the sick yellow light. And then the spray—red, unmistakable—splattering the wall behind him. The camera dies completely. “JACE—” I shout into the comm, but the line hisses dead. No voices, no movement. Just silence. I sit there, staring at the blank screen, my own reflection in the dark glass. And for the first time in years, my hands won’t stop shaking. Jace The world snapped into white and ringing—like someone detonated a flashbang in my skull.

"I couldn't. Not without you. I barely slept. I felt like I was dying too." Daniel cupped her face. "I'm here now. I'm not going anywhere." For a moment, it seemed like the worst was behind them. Everyone exhaled, letting relief wash over them like a wave. And then Jessica screamed. She fell to the ground as if struck by lightning, her back arching unnaturally. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head. Her mouth opened in a silent scream, and then the room was filled with a voice—one that echoed from nowhere and everywhere all at once.

I whispered, looking at the frozen person. "Jack, please turn back the car" I spoke softly looking at him, he was getting ready to drive but not backwards, of course forward.. we're going to die now.. "Olivia," the man shouted, and his face began to change to anger. “Jackson” I shouted at Jackson, and I had no luck with my expressions on my face, and suddenly everything changed.. My vision became black after I felt my heart ripped out of its place.. Suddenly I screamed and caught my breath hard..this can't be real..
