James looks back at me with hopeful eyes form the setting room before running back to sit beside me. The cartoon was a 10 mins video about a little boy who's dad was a mutant with extremely large teeth and a green eyes. It was sad and satirical but it was also very funny. I could feel James hopeful eyes staring back at me until the very end of it. He turned the lights back on before the end credits began to play.

It was a distinction that felt right—a map of the family we were building. Nate threw the snowball with everything he had. Mico and Norah ducked at the last possible second, and the white orb hit Jimmie right in the shoulder, spraying up into his hair. "How dare you!" And the worst part about this weird thought that just popped up in my head is that I can’t even clear the stupid thought from my mind because I know it is what Jimmy is capable of doing when the spirit of stupidity enters into me. But God help him if he actually decides to be stupid and think from his ass rather than from the brain he was blessed with because he will not live to witness the end of my rage and this is not even a joke. I would be absolutely pissed with him for more than a month if he decides to embarrass me like that.

What is he thinking? I wish I knew exactly how to look into his mind. I still haven’t managed to do that yet. In a broken voice, Jimmy asks, “H.how do y.you do th.that?” I furrow my eyebrows and slowly shake my head. “Do what? I don’t know what you are talking about.” He nibbles on his bottom lip before he softly replies, “C.calm me do.down.” Oh, that. Wait. Am I really doing that?

A doubting Thomas. “The dickhead.” Jimmy gnashed his teeth. “I swear to God, his gonna regret ever messing with me.” “Uh huh. Whatcha gonna do?” Jimmy looked far off. In thoughts. “Screw him up.”

I muttered before sipping at my beer. “I am a proud geek,” Rose stated. “You’re just jealous of my vast knowledge of useless quotes and trivia.” I rolled my eyes. Jimmy came back with the sodas and some more beer. “Nate says you three talked him into leaving us for that wolf university.” “Yup,” Kimi said proudly. “He just admitted that we are more intelligent than he is, and yielded to his betters.” “Fuck you,” Jimmy said, but without any heat. “Most people are smarter than Nate.”

“You were right, and I just couldn’t see it. Not right then.” “And now you do? So? Enjoying the kick of being a whole new level of bastard?” Jim’s clear laughter filled the room. “I was playing it to try to figure out why I couldn’t see it right from the start, like you did.” He glanced at Sean. “And I’d gladly tell you why, but I’m afraid you won’t believe me.” “Like you care. You wanna tell me, so just do it.”

Too suspicious. I smirked, my mind already spinning with possibilities. “Perfect,” I murmured. “If Jimmy wants a fight, I’ll give him one he’ll never forget.”
