“Hey, your dad started it, baby,” Jacob said with a shrug, his eyes flashing with mischief. “I didn’t come here to argue; he’s the one playing grumpy old man, grilling us for answers. We should be out, hanging around and enjoying ourselves.”
Dad shot up from his chair, looking indignant. “Don’t baby my daughter in front of me, you asshole! And ‘hanging around’? You better keep five feet away from her at all times.”
