Eyes wide with terror. Victor Kane stood behind her, mid-fifties, silver hair, tailored suit, and the smile of a man who enjoyed his work. David Blackwood leaned against a crate to his right, green eyes fixed on Jenna the second she stepped into the light. Victor clapped slowly. “Brave girl. Or stupid. Either way, welcome home, property.” Jenna’s legs shook, but she kept walking. The bullets inside her hummed faintly, Dean’s thumb hovering over his phone.
