The phone screen still glowed with Jonah’s message, the words sitting there in the dark of the bedroom like something that couldn’t wait for morning. He said his name was Daniel Pierce. He said he was Hannah’s father. Jonah answered on the second ring, his voice low, careful, the voice of someone who’d been sitting with something heavy and was relieved to finally hand part of it over.

You have just sanctified my taste buds. I am definitely ordering the whole menu next time .” Jake laughed. “Enjoy. I’ve got to drop off some medications for Hannah. She’s not feeling well.” And as Jake turned to go, he paused. “Any luck finding your mate?” Noah shook his head. “Not yet. But soon.” Jake clapped him on the back. “When you do, it’ll be a hell of a day. I can’t wait.”

Maybe it helps.” I smiled at her. “Good job. Knight research department!” Jamie pointed at her. “Hanna… spy genius!” Grayson chuckled. “She’s more than a genius… she’s our secret weapon.” I leaned over and kissed Grayson on the cheek. “And you’re my distraction.” Grayson smirked. “I will try my best.”

Also, my experience talking to women is not the best since all of them end up fucking hating my guts. I can tell Hannah is sexually into me, which isn’t surprising, but she sometimes looks at Shanna and they share a specific look, as if they’re complaining about me telepathically. But I don't care. That evening they discussed what tactics Hannah could use to determine what are and are not appropriate things to say to people in every situation possible.
