“Maya on the other side of Hunter.” I moved into position, pasting on a smile that didn’t reach my eyes. “Perfect,” the photographer said. “Now, one more with just the sisters.” Helena’s arm slid around my waist, her nails digging slightly into my side where no one could see. Her smile never faltered. “Smile, Gracie,” she whispered through her teeth. “We’re family, after all.” I smiled, feeling the weight of her warning and the weight of Hunter’s gaze from across the room.

They were killed by the Goblins. We believe we are the only ones that made it out alive. Akasha is now our leader, as she is the Eldest.” Gia explained.

I stared at my identical sisters who looked like mirror reflections of each other except that Juliet wore her hair down with two braids at the front while Jade wore hers as a braid. They both dresses in the same color of ball gowns except where Jade is a wearing the actual ball gown, Juliet turned it into an off-shoulder crop top and a long flare high waist skirt that swept the floor. My little sisters may look alike but they were complete opposites. " Did you know? A lady came to see His Majesty." Jade said. " Dad, Jade, Not His Majesty." Juliet rolled her eyes and continued eating. " Sorry." Jade blushed embarrassingly.

"No. I don't think you're trying at all. Why did you offer to drive me around? What're you trying to prove?" Jude gave me a look. In fact, he looked at me for so long that I was terrified that he'd crash the car because he wasn't looking at the road anymore. "What, can't I get to know my little stepsister? Aren't you a pessimistic little thing." He reached over and squeezed my cheek between his fingers covered in rings like I was a child, and I slapped his hand hard. So hard that I caught the metal rings and pain exploded in my palm.
