The Goddess Vessel
The boy scrambled for the coin and vanished into the twilight as silently as he had come.
The Architect closed the door, locked it, and leaned against it. His performance had been perfect.
But as he looked at the clay jug in his hand, his expression changed. The coldness bled away, replaced by a deep, unsettling grimace. He brought the jug to his nose and inhaled deeply.
"What is it?" Gorven asked, his hand drifting to his weapon.
The Architect didn't answer immediately. He swirled the water in the jug, then slowly, deliberately, poured it out onto the dusty floor.
