As I was stewing in my frustration over Jim's choices and how I'd missed my shot, I heard a familiar voice. "Hey!" I turned and saw Jules skipping over to me. She had on a tight, sky blue crop-top and leggings that left nothing to the imagination. But what caught my eye first was her bright red lipstick, something I'd never seen her wear. I tuck myself into a corner of the couch and fix my eyes on the TV. Jude joins me a few minutes later with a load of steaming dishes. There’s grilled lamb chops and potatoes and aromatic rice and roasted vegetables and gravy. “That’s not all for me, is it?” I ask, because there’s too much for one person. “I hadn’t eaten yet,” he says. “Oh,” I mumble. Did I ruin his appetite? “Jade did, and went out. She’ll be staying at her friend’s tonight,” he lets me know. So it’s just the two of us here. “Okay.”

I called them Tala t-shirts because she had them made, usually skulls and blood or decapitated bodies and they were one of a kind. I walked downstairs and Jules stood waiting for me and Mrs. Walker looked at my t-shirt and I knew she was probably thinking something along the lines of “goodness gracious me.” Jules looked stunning in skintight jeans with a shirt that ended where her jeans started with knee high boots and when she walked you’d catch a glimpse of skin and somehow that was more attractive than showing everything.

There was silence on Cassie's end as she tried to be sure she'd heard what Jules had said right. ‘Who even watches TV anymore?’ she thought. “What's on there?" She asked, filing her nails away. Jules stared at the TV with her entire mind, anticipating with no guess what he was planning to say. "Just turn on your TV and scroll through the channels. I’ll call you back." Jules didn’t wait for a reply. She ended the call and turned the volume up three notches.

We settled onto a plush sectional couch, Jules curling up with her legs tucked under her, still watching me with a curiosity that felt both flattering and unnerving. It felt weird but it felt … good finally to have such a girly friendly conversation. “Jules is a model, works with me,” she explained to me, who nodded, trying to keep up with the rapid-fire banter. Jules leaned forward, elbows on her knees. “Yeah, I’m in the middle of a campaign. Exhausting, but fun.” She grinned at Stella. “So, spill—how’s Christian? How’s the bedroom action?” My eyes widened, my breath catching at Jules’s boldness. Stella didn’t bat an eye, her laugh bright.

The elevator opened with a soft chime, and Jules stepped in like she owned the place. Black boots. Dark denim. A cropped leather jacket that screamed danger even without the twin blades strapped across her back like attitude. Her short hair was tousled, messy in the way that said she either didn’t care or just got back from doing something illegal. I stood barefoot in the center of the living room, robe belted tight, still reeling from the morning. Jules looked me up and down. “You look like you just tried to strangle a man with a champagne flute.”

Jules screamed, raising her voice. Paaa!! A hard slap landed on Gigi’s face. I got startled when I noticed it was my babe hands on Gigi’s ugly face. I never felt remorse neither did I pitied the ugly plus-sized girl anyways. “You must be so stupid to think my man will leave me just to stoop so fucking low to a classless thing like you, have you ever checked yourself in the mirror? Do you think a good man can come to you? No they can never date a disgusting thing like you.” Jules said, brimming in anger.

Swiping my finger to get back to the chat box, I finally take the time to type out a reply. I'm here but at work. I shall get back to you when I get home. Can I text you back at around 7? Killing the phone screen, I pace back to my work desk and plop in my chair with a thud. "Feeling wiped out?" Jules looks at me warily. "Did you hear another earful from Mr Waugh? Was he harsh towards you? Is he an asshole?" Then she rubs her chin, deep in thought. "An asshole but a sexy asshole, nonetheless. Yeah, that describes him."

Rather, she pushed him back down on the chair and straddled him. “Keep doing that, and no amount of Botox will fix your face when I'm done with it.” Jules's head turned as he heard Janice's voice. She tossed the brunette a dirty look and lifted the robe she donned slowly to reveal her bump. “I-I didn't know you were married.” A startled Julie stuttered. “Now you know.” Janice snapped. “Now, fucK off.” Julie nodded and scampered away. Jules chuckled as he glimpsed at the look still on her face. He had thought she was only sexy when furious, but she was sexier acting all possessive.
