My hands shook as I read the letter. Karen was writing a book. A memoir about the affair. About the trial. About everything. And they were publishing it. They were going to put Karen's version of events out into the world and let her profit from destroying my life.

And then, at the very bottom of the box, we got to my diary. The one that I had hidden in a secret compartment in the dresser that I thought my mother knew nothing about.
