She clasps her hands nervously. Penelope walked slowly down the hall. In spite of her gentle dress, she patrolled everyone like a queen on an outing. She put her hands on her belly again, as if there was a round belly somewhere -- but there wasn't. There was only her flat belly, and she rubbed it gently against her white dress, looking as gentle as a real mother, and then she announced: "The father is an alpha from the Black Valley Pack, Charles Maclean!" Penelope smiled at me before I slammed the door shut, turning to Leon who was staring at me. "Alright boys, let's get the cars going!" She sifted through countless articles and forums, piecing together whatever fragments of information she could find. It was tedious and often frustrating, but she pushed on, driven by a desperate need to understand.
